What happens after I submit the quote form?

Someone reads it properly — you will not get an automated reply. We come back within one business day, usually with a couple of questions, because the details that change a quote are rarely in the first message. For straightforward work we can often give you a realistic range from a description and a few photos. For anything involving height, a complex mount or coverage work, we book a site assessment first.

What information helps you quote accurately?

Photos are worth more than anything you can write. A shot of the building from the outside, the roofline, where you would want equipment, and what surrounds the property answers most of what we would otherwise have to ask. Beyond that: the address or general location, whether it is residential or commercial, where the router or equipment needs to end up, and anything that has already been tried and did not work.

Do you charge for a site assessment?

Accepted Answer

Not within our normal service area. For distant properties, travel is quoted transparently before we commit to anything — you will never see a travel charge appear for the first time on an invoice. Where an assessment involves substantial diagnostic work on an existing failing installation, we agree that scope and cost with you beforehand rather than after.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Straightforward residential work in the Edmonton area is usually within a week. Commercial projects are scheduled around design and equipment lead times, which are the real constraint rather than our calendar. Genuine outages get prioritised — a business that cannot take payment is a different call from a planned installation.

Question 5

Can you tell me whether I need you at all?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we would rather. If your dish can sit at ground level with a clear view of the sky and the cable reaches an existing opening, self-installation is genuinely straightforward and there is no reason to pay anyone. Describe the situation and we will tell you plainly. We would rather lose a small job than take one you did not need.

I have no usable internet at my property at all

Accepted Answer

Start with Starlink installation if you have a reasonably clear view of the sky, since that works almost anywhere. If heavy tree cover rules that out but a cell tower is reachable, a cellular router with an external antenna often will work — that is our cellular antenna and Cradlepoint work. Where the connection genuinely matters, combining both and bonding them is the reliable answer. We survey both options before recommending either.

Question 7

My internet works but does not reach part of the building

Accepted Answer

That is a Wi-Fi coverage problem, not an internet problem, and it is the single most common thing we get called about. The connection is fine; the coverage layer is the limitation. It is fixed with a surveyed access point layout rather than a bigger router — see Wi-Fi installation, or the Starlink Wi-Fi page if the connection is a dish.

Question 8

My internet drops out for a few seconds, repeatedly

Accepted Answer

On Starlink that usually means the dish position never cleared the full satellite arc, and it is a mounting problem rather than a hardware fault. The giveaway is that speed tests still look fine while calls stutter. On a wired connection it is more often a cable or provider issue. Question 9

My business stops working when the internet goes down

Accepted Answer

You need a second path that fails for different reasons than the first. A cellular failover router switches over within seconds of the primary dropping, which keeps payment terminals, phones and cloud software running. I am fitting out a new commercial space

Accepted Answer

Get us in before the millwork closes up. The expensive mistakes are structural: no backing behind a display mount, power and data on the wrong side of a recess, cable pathways that were never run. Structured cabling, network, cameras, POS and displays all want deciding at the drawing stage. Retrofitting any of them into a finished space costs several times what it costs at rough-in.

I need someone to look after several sites the same way

Accepted Answer

That is commercial network installation with consistent topology and central management across locations. Deploying identical configuration and naming everywhere means any site behaves the same way, and cellular hardware can be managed centrally through NetCloud or InControl rather than site by site.

Question 12

Why is there no price list on the site?

Accepted Answer

Because the honest range is wide enough that a headline figure would be misleading. The same service at two properties can differ by a factor of three depending on roof height and access, mount type, cable run length, building construction and whether coverage work is needed. Any installer publishing one number is either quoting the simplest possible job or intending to revise it once they see your property. We would rather survey and give you a number that holds.

Will the price change after you arrive?

Accepted Answer

Not if we surveyed the site — that is what the survey is for. Where we have quoted from photographs and something material turns out to be different on the day, we stop and talk to you before doing anything that changes the cost. You will get a conversation before the work, not a surprise on the invoice.

Question 14

Do you sell the Starlink hardware or the POS software?

Accepted Answer

No to both, deliberately. You buy the Starlink kit directly from Starlink at their price, and you choose whichever POS platform and payment processor suits your operation. We make nothing on either, which means we have no reason to steer you toward a more expensive tier or a platform that suits us rather than you. What we supply and itemise is mounting hardware, cable, conduit, enclosures and networking equipment.

Do you price match?

Accepted Answer

We do not advertise beating other quotes by a percentage, because a cheaper quote usually differs in scope rather than in margin. If you have a lower number, send it over and we will tell you honestly what is different — sometimes it is a genuinely simpler approach and you should take it. More often the difference is a survey that was not done, grounding that was skipped, or coverage that was never discussed.

How does payment work?

Scope, itemised materials and a fixed price in writing before work starts, with anything genuinely uncertain flagged as uncertain rather than buried. Larger commercial projects are staged against milestones. We will not begin work on a verbal figure, which protects both of us.

Question 17

Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry liability insurance and can provide a certificate on request, which commercial and industrial sites commonly require before work starts. If your site needs specific coverage limits or a certificate naming you, ask early rather than on the day — it is straightforward to arrange with notice.

Question 18

Who does the electrical work?

Accepted Answer

A certified electrician. Low-voltage cabling, mounting, network hardware, cameras, POS and displays are our scope. New power circuits — an EV charger, a dedicated outlet behind a display, a supply to a server rack — are licensed electrical work, and permits and inspection are included in the scope rather than left for you to arrange afterwards.

Question 19

What if something goes wrong after installation?

Get in touch and we will diagnose it. Where the fault is with our workmanship we correct it. Where it is a hardware failure we help with the manufacturer warranty process. Where it is something else — a provider outage, a change someone made, a device that failed — we will tell you that plainly rather than billing you to find out.

Question 20

Will you work with our existing IT provider?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is a common arrangement. We handle physical installation, cabling, racking and network hardware; they keep systems, software and user support. Documentation goes directly to them so nothing falls between the two scopes. We agree the division of responsibility at the start, so there is no gap where each side assumes the other has it covered.

What do I actually receive at handover?

Labelled cabling, an as-built diagram, the IP schedule, credentials and a walkthrough. The point is that you or any competent contractor can support the site without us — including handing it away from us. Sites that are documented are cheap to support; sites that are not have to be rediscovered every time somebody touches them.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is genuinely optional. We offer remote monitoring with alerting on link degradation, scheduled firmware maintenance and response arrangements. Because everything is documented and labelled, you are free to support it in-house or through another provider instead. Nothing about the installation depends on us staying involved.

How far will you travel?

Accepted Answer

Most of Alberta, including the north and the Peace region. Edmonton and the surrounding communities — Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan — are inside our daily radius with no travel component. Beyond that, travel is quoted transparently before we commit, and we schedule regional work together so several jobs share one trip.

Question 24

Is it worth hiring you if I am hours away?

It depends on the job. For a straightforward residential install, a competent local installer will usually be better value than paying for our travel, and we will say so. Where it makes sense is work that needs capability rather than proximity — commercial network integration, bonded connectivity, unmanned sites needing remote management. Those we design specifically so ongoing support does not depend on repeat visits.

Question 25

How do you support a site you cannot easily get back to?

Accepted Answer

By designing for it. Remote deployments include out-of-band management so the equipment can be reached over a secondary path, remote power cycling on critical devices, and alerting that tells us a link degraded before anyone on site notices. Most remote faults are resolved without a truck, which at distance is the difference between minutes and a full day.

Does winter affect scheduling?

Accepted Answer

It affects access more than it affects the work. Spring road bans and winter conditions on rural roads change what is reachable and when, more than our calendar does. Roof work in deep cold is slower and needs more care, and frozen ground affects pole setting and any buried run. None of it makes work impossible; it makes timelines honest.
